COVID safety, our plan, and your guarantee

IT IS MANDATORY THAT ALL WILD MOUNT PARTICIPANTS REVIEW THE COVID-19 SAFETY DOCUMENT AND AGREE TO ADHERE TO THE EVENT GUIDELINES.

BELOW IS A DOWNLOADABLE COVID SAFETY PARTICIPANT HANDBOOK. PLEASE READ IT, IT CONTAINS SUPER IMPORTANT INFORMATION THAT YOU NEED TO KNOW. IT FALLS ON ALL OF US TO KEEP OURSELVES SAFE, TO KEEP OTHER PARTICIPANTS SAFE, TO KEEP VOLUNTEERS SAFE AND TO KEEP RUNNING EVENTS HAPPENING.

COVID REFUND POLICY

What happens if the event is cancelled due to COVID restrictions?

Damn COVID. Been a bumpy ride, eh? And we are well aware that it means you might have reservations about entering until the last minute. That, however, makes our planning super hard. So, we are offering our COVID Refund Policy which is:

  • If the event is cancelled due to COVID, we offer a full refund less the usual admin fee (20%), right up until the event date.

  • If you prefer, we can transfer your entry to the rescheduled date of the event, which at this stage we are just going to hold over until December 2022, as there are too many other events scheduled for the rest of 2021 and we want to avoid any conflicts.

  • NOTE: that this ‘full refund less admin fee right up until the event’ is for cancellation due to COVID only. Any other refund requests (i.e for injury, unexpected commitment clashes etc) are under our regular refund policy see FAQ page (i.e. refund less 20% admin up to and including 31 October 2021; no refunds post this date, no debate).

ATTENDANCE

Runners, spectators, support crew and volunteers MUST NOT ATTEND if they are showing symptoms that could potentially be COVID-19, including;

  • Fever, repeated coughing, conjunctivitis, difficulty breathing / shortness of breath, loss of speech or movement, runny nose, headache, muscle or joint pains, nausea, diarrhoea, vomiting, loss of sense of smell, altered sense of taste, loss of appetite and fatigue.

If you present with any of these symptoms you will be asked to leave the event staging area and you will not be allowed to participate rather we strongly recommend you immediately report to a COVID testing clinic.

We know this will be a tough call, you’ve done the training, you are looking forward to running, but please should you have any of these symptoms, for the safety of yourself, others and the continuing viability of the event, please be honest.

Take care of yourself and each other.

“This is a really good way of getting out of handshakes, holding hands, and being close enough to smell someone else's bad breath.”

PHYSICAL DISTANCING

Participants, volunteers, staff and supporters must endeavour to maintain physical distancing of 1.5m at all times. We ask that you respect the personal space of others even more than you may usually and be aware of your surroundings at all times. If it is not possible to physically distance, then you must wear a face mask.

Keeping everyone safe is our number one priority.

FACE MASKS

Face masks must be carried at all times. These are part of the MANDATORY gear and you have to keep it on you at all times during the event, including bib pick up, registration, start and finish areas and aid stations. If you are interacting with the event you must have your mask with you.

Buffs and Thirs and all things of that ilk are NOT suitable face masks. Don’t look for loopholes, we have been at this long enough now that everyone knows what an appropriate face mask is.

“My mask protects you. Your mask protects me.”

AID STATIONS

We have updated our aid station protocols to keep everyone safe. Operating safely under the threat of COVID-19 has meant that first and foremost we ask runners to be as self-sufficient as possible. It would be great if you could carry enough food and hydration to support yourself across the race. That said we will be providing some aid.

  • Food will be LIMITED, we can only offer pre-packaged foodstuffs and whole fruit.

  • Runners MUST NOT handle any food - a volunteer will pass you your desired items. Personal service with a smile!

  • Runners MUST NOT touch the aid station taps for water or Tailwind Nutrition - a volunteer will operate the tap for you, all you need to do is hold your hydration receptacle underneath. So easy!

  • The above also applies for the finish line aid.

The above guidelines may change if government mandated restrictions change prior to the race, please keep abreast of the general COVID situation in the state and make sure that you follow race communications in the lead up to the event.

EVENT MEDICAL

All event medical will be supplied by the legends at Endurance Medical Services (EMS) www.endurancemedicalservices.com.au

HQ Medical Centre will operate from near finish line and there will be mobile med teams out on course.

If you need to speak with medical personal, no matter where you are, you must put your mask on.

Patients that need attention or observation will be taken away from the finish line to ensure physical distancing and privacy.

EMS will triage patients. Only cases deemed serious enough will be offered beds and observation, minor incidents will be advised to rest and recuperate at a suitable distance and/or self-administer treatment according to medical advice. This is not primarily to keep everyone safe by reducing the number of patient interactions and ensuring there is enough space for everyone to physically distance.

NON-RUNNERS / SUPPORTERS

We ask that non-runners and supporters sign in to the event by using our Q-CODE system. COVID-safe operation requires that we capture the details of all attendees so as to maximise contract tracing if necessary.

Please register via Q-Codes located at event HQ / bib pick up. They may be event-generated ones by us OR they may be those supplied by venues we use (i.e. The Ballarat RunninG Co. retail outlet).

Spectators must adhere to physical distancing guidelines and minimise their interaction with others during the event.
